FAQs

About Pet Portraits and bespoke pieces
....................

What sort of customs are available?
I take commissions for pet portraits, fursonas, as well as animals, real or imaginary. As long you can provide pictures for me to work from, I can usually make it happen. See below for a list of things I won't make.

    ..............................

How do I get started?
First, I need a few images of the creature in question and an idea of what pose you want. Once I agree that this is a project I can take on, I will need additional images from you.

For pet portraits, I'll need clear, well-lit images that accurately show the front, back, top, bottom, left side, and right side of your pet. I will also need a close-up of your pet's face and pictures of the pose you want.

If you are looking to get a fursona made, generally a reference sheet is sufficient, along with a picture of the pose you want.

I will match colors to the images you provide, so make sure that they are accurate.

    ..............................

Do I get to offer feedback during the process?
Yes, you most certainly do! I will contact you at various stages during the process to make sure things are to your liking. I want to make sure you are absolutely happy with your commission! Some stages take longer than others, so if you haven't heard from me in awhile, feel free to contact me and ask for a progress report.

    ..............................

Can I commission work similar to past work?
The answer is generally yes, but do keep in mind that I cannot make an exact replica of a past work. The nature of hand-made is that no two items will ever be exactly the same, so there will be differences between the new work and the old.

     .............................

Is there anything you won't make?
Yes. The biggest no-no is that I won't make anything that's under copyright, nor will I copy another artist's work.
Also, I do not make humans. Mostly because I'm just not that good at it, and I feel neither of us would be happy with the results. I can do anthro style fursonas, but humans faces still elude me.
I prefer to keep subject matter in the "safe for work " spectrum.

     ..............................

What's the cost?
It depends on the size and the level of complexity of the project in question. A large, spotted octopus will cost more than, say, a small bird like a robin. Most commissions end up being in the $75 - $250 range, but I've made some for significantly more and some for significantly less!

I will provide you with a quote for the total cost of the project, and will require you to prepay a portion of this amount before I start working on your commission. This initial payment is non-refundable.

The cost of shipping is separate from the cost of the commission. Domestic (US) orders over $85 ship free.

    ..............................

How long will it take?
Again, this will depend on the size and complexity of the commission. Needle felting is a slow craft, and I pay a lot of attention to the details. Most commissions fall in the 1-2 month range, but I've had commissions (like a life size baby alligator!) that took an entire year to make because of all the detail. If you have a deadline in mind, let me know up front, and I'll be able to tell you if I can make it.

     ..............................

What if I don't love it?
That is rare. As we will have been communicating all along, I'll have made all the tweaks and changes you wanted in process, so that when you see the final result, it will be something you love.
